They are mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. Most of the time they sleep on the streets or in shelters because that is sometimes the only place they can find. If, in your haste to look away from them, you wish that they go to low-income housing far away from you, naturally, this truth then stings you in the mind: low-income housing will not have them. Why? Because they have poor credit. They have a criminal record. Even with a job, they can get a roof over their head. And here are two more facts we should recognize: One, they are not going away; two, their presence in Dallas and most urban areas, and its surrounding communities is growing faster than the low-income housing currently being built especially for them.
Now that we have sobered you into sadness, let us fix our minds toward a solution, a real solution that has been advocated tirelessly by The TimeTrustFinancial Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. Simply stated, if society has expelled you because of a poor credit decision, a criminal conviction, mental illness, illegal drug addiction, alcoholism, or if you served our country in combat and have found the transition back to civilian life impossible, TTF Charitable Foundation wants you for its Progressive Housing Solutions Program.
TTF Charitable Foundation -- formed in 2015 and first incorporated ten years ago -- is a caring collection of entrepreneurs who wants to establish a productive partnership between local job creators and the forgotten population through housing, and hope. We believe that the best way to beautify the " people problem" is through their pride. We want to appeal to their humanity by helping them overcome their demons while rewarding them with a home that they pay off monthly while working for a living wage.
We are more than another not-for-profit with a positive name. We have specific strategies to integrate the homeless into the city's society. Our four-point plan involves infusing hope into the hopeless, and sanity into a once-insane situation.
One: We want to partner with other concerned Americans to offer reasonably priced housing in a cooperative, community-centered setting. You know the homeless that are still on the streets today? Well, many will die by the time our city has completed building housing for them. We know our city can do better, and we have the people in place to make such partnerships possible so that we are celebrating life while people are still here.
Two: We have designed a plan that provides entrepreneurship opportunities for the people who want and need them. As entrepreneurs ourselves, we are open to assisting people who can succeed in either venture; they just have not been given the opportunity, resources, or encouragement to display the hidden talents that, up to now, have boiled over into negative behaviors, attitudes, and actions.
Three: Instead of shaking our heads and turning away from the negative behaviors society's outcasts unfortunately engage in, we want to, instead, get to the real reasons, the roots that lead to such frustration taking on ugly tones. We are ready to establish working partnership with area social workers and social service agencies. Together -- not in an isolated vacuum that lead to angry cries for help -- we will stay with them as they are guided through behavior modification and improvement programs. These programs, research, and reality have proven, help reduce recidivism and relapse rates.
Four: While our intentions are true, we also recognize that not everyone can be restored to society in whole. Recognizing this, TTF will also maintain the same partnership with social service agencies to provide the best care possible to keep those individuals with profound mental challenges from hurting themselves
and others. |
